History & Investors
TowerCom was originally founded in 1994 as an acquirer and developer of broadcast towers. The first tower portfolio was sold in 1997 for $27 million in what was one of the first large tower portfolio sales in the industry.
In 1996, TowerCom funded a 68 tower build-to-suit in Georgia and South Carolina for Powertel, which later became T-Mobile. That began the company's growth toward cell tower development.
By 2001, TowerCom had offices in Gainesville, Jacksonville, Pensacola, Atlanta, Cincinnati and Danville, CA. Several of those offices were sold over the years as part of multiple tower sales and today the company has offices in Atlanta, Jacksonville, Raleigh/Durham, Ft. Lauderdale, Tulsa and Pismo Beach, CA.
TowerCom has developed, built and operated over 450 cell towers. The company has sold over $192 million in tower assets since 2000. TowerCom has close relationships with national and regional cellular/PCS carriers as well as long term business experience with state and local governmental entities.
TowerCom is funded by Southcoast Capital Corporation and one other investor. Southcoast Capital, its shareholders and investors have a net worth in excess of $150 million. Between the company, the investors and their banking relationships, TowerCom has a funding capacity of more than $30 million.
